The Airport Chair designed by Werner Sobek suggests the weightlessness of a ribbon curved in space. In terms of its shape, materials and construction it conjures up analogies to aircraft construction. Its elegant shape is formed from rolled aluminium sheet. All joints are flush and accurate. As is usual with lightweight construction, the cross-sections are minimized with regard to the requirements. This chair is manufactured in a number of models ranging from the relatively simple Gate Chair designed for short waiting times, to the comfortable and luxurious Lounge Chair.
